Derek Scott

Derek came to commercial real estate from corporate finance. He spent several years at JCPenney and Crestline Investors doing financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and executive reporting. Crestline is one of the country’s larger private credit investment managers, so he got a close look at how institutional capital actually gets allocated. That shows up in how he underwrites a deal: clients get real numbers before they get an opinion.

He’s also an investor himself. Derek has bought, renovated, and managed properties around Texas, which means he’s been on the owner’s side of the bad surprises, not just the spreadsheet side. He works with clients across multiple asset classes.

Derek earned a BBA in Financial Management from Abilene Christian University, where he played Division I baseball. He and his wife, Kara, live in Fort Worth with their son, Nolan. When he’s not working he’s usually fishing, hunting, or on a golf course.
